Uganda is a lush green hidden gem of Africa, which is off the usual tourist track. A taste of a earthy Africa, those who spend time here talk about its vibrancy and warmth and they often don't want to leave!
Those venturing in this lush green land experience amazing birdlife and wild animals, famously the mountain gorillas, with half the world’s population resident within the country...
Sportventurer is based in Jinja, Southern Uganda, by the famous Lake Victoria on the source of the River Nile. Here there are hair-raising adventures at your feet, with opportunities to white water raft the powerful Nile, quad-bike nearby in Bugigali or bungee jump on the ' Nile high'.
Jinja is a spacious town with a colourful market selling hand-made wood carving and authentic jewellery. Locally, there are internet cafés, a post office, cafés and small shops for amenities. There are some small bars too, for an icy cold soft drink or beer to cool down after the hot energetic days. People will journey through the area using the local transport 'Matatus' and 'boda-bodas'.
The area surrounding Jinja is very green, with thick vegetation. Uganda itself is renowned for its birdlife and is home to many wild animals, perhaps most famously the gorilla, with half of the world’s population resident within the country. It is possible to access some beautiful scenery in the surrounding areas, and for the more adventurous there is the opportunity to test yourself against the mighty White Nile as mentioned in the second paragraph.
Sport takes a special place in the lives of nearly all Ugandans, and their fascination and thanks that they give to those who take time out to dedicate their own time to the improvement of others is hard to forget. Sportventuers have always been amazed at the reaction to their efforts in helping with the local game. The gratitude is something hard to describe, you just have to be there.

“Playing football everyday and also having the opportunity to travel around the country to see a different place and sample the different foods which you can’t do back home was brilliant.”
