RUGBY FIJI
Feedback

Name: Harry street
Age: 19
Status: male
Countries in: Fiji & Tonga
Motivation for the trip: Going to kiwi, oz, and Asia and wanted to have the experience of living in a community, and to be able to coach and play some sport aboard and help the community
So……………how’s it going? Superb. The coaching is going great, I’ve made some sound friends with the locals and people from England, difficult at the end of each month once you have become use to certain people and then they are off again, and it all starts again
What you been up to? Started off coaching rugby which was the original plan, then discovered the hockey coaching with Giles [the Sportventurer crew leader], and moved onto this so there was even more coaching. I’ve really enjoyed getting in touch with the teams as well, I have 3 teams that I coach, and take to matches, I’ve had a chance to travel around the islands as well at the weekends coz that has to be done whilst out here,
What’s your favourite thing about the country that you are in? The way they live, is totally relaxed and basic, just out for a good time and having a laugh as well as how passionately they take there sport, family and their history. They have welcomed us into their country amazingly.
What’s the food like? Standard rice, pasta with meat usually with tomato, nothing too fancy , the national food is fairly simple food, except the fish which is excellent!!
How’s the stomach? Good question had food poisoning for 2 weeks due to a sea food surprise on a monster of pizza that we had one night, bit interesting on the mini bus!
What did you do last night? Played in a semi final hockey match and had a good game until I passed it to the opposition right in front off the goal and was cheered by the crowd, not going to live this one down for a while sadly, then saw my girl friend, and went to the internet to talk to friends on msn before going to the local club for a few drinks with the staff,
Plans for the weekend? Sleep, relax, playing a match on Saturday and then got a friends 24th b’day on Sunday so going for a beach party from Sunday till Monday, have bbq and bit of and fire probably.
Craziest moment so far? Having a party with one of my all girl hockey team and having a bbq and pool party at one of their houses before hitting the town at 2 am for a party in ‘Traps’ the local night club with the boys that work there. Went to sleep at 11 am and have just seen the pictures the next day with us all dancing on a bar in front of a lot of friends,
Describe briefly the maddest local you’ve met so far. Except for the 4 minutes a day taxi into town it have to be a friend of mine who works in ‘Traps’ the club and is just constantly parting and having laughs, but to be honest they are all fairly crazy.
Looking forward to coming back to work? No dislike the English lifestyle but have uni to attend, be nice to meet up with friends for catch up on travels as well as seeing a few of the boys from Fiji in England once I get back,
Thanks very much of your time and I hope that you enjoy the rest of your trip.
