SWIMMING
Coach swimming in Fiji
Sportventurer have teamed up with the National Aquatic Centre Fiji to offer a wonderful opportunity to coach swimming to children and adults at schools and clubs from our base in Suva.
Our house in Suva is under 10 minutes walk to the National Aquatic Centre which has world class indoor and outdoor facilities including a 50m Olympic sized pool.
Swimming is an important life skill for citizens of any island nation. Drowning is a leading cause of death among young people in Fiji and working in cooperation with local and national bodies, SportVenturers can contribute to a programme designed to increase the number of people who are taught to swim at school age and ultimately save lives.
There are currently 848 primary and high schools in the Fiji Islands. It is estimated that 20 - 30 of these schools include swimming in their school curriculum. The Amateur Swimming Association of Fiji (ASAF) and its Schools Swimming Committee would like to see this number increase.
We believe that through educating and equipping school teachers to teach basic swimming skills in a school environment we can help achieve various goals including increased participation in competitive school swimming, improvement in performance of National School Swimming teams, for example at the Pacific School Games and see an improvement in performance of National Swimming teams.
Sportventurers can positively influence decreased drowning related fatalities in school aged children and contribute to increased community awareness of water safety principles and practices.
