Earlier in 2005 Ian told us his thoughts about heading out on a Sportventurer project in Ghana

Name: Ian Pegram
Age: 28
Country: Ghana Sportventurer (football)
Status: Career Breaker
How’s the packing going?
Yet to start packing. Vaccinations etc just sorted out so the preparations have just started.
Is this your first big trip abroad?
No. I have previously travelled to South America, Australia and India.
What made you chose to come away with an organization like Sportventurer?
I very much wanted to go to Africa and was interested in the combination of work/travel.
What do you hope to achieve by coming away with us?
To help kids to enjoy themselves through sport – whether they are good or not – and to take part in a project with educational value.
What are you most looking forward to about the trip?
Not being chained to an office desk, meeting the kids, meeting new people on the project, experiencing Africa for the first time, watching African sunsets/sunrises.
What do you mates think about you about to jet off?
Almost 100% jealous.
How did you raise the money to come away?
Selling my soul in the City for 4 years.
What creature comforts have you made space for in your rucksack?
I think I will be taking plenty of CDs for comfort, yes. and my Newcastle shirt
Most useful item you’ll be taking with you (apart from your passport!).
Mossy net!
